Juls and Kat {Newport Aquarium}

So sorry for the late start to a lovely week, but I promise you’ll be ‘ooh-ing and aah-ing’ when you see Juls and Kat’s wedding. This fabulous affair at the Newport Aquarium in Northern Kentucky is filled with unique style and one gorgeous couple. The bride is absolutely stunning and the venue perfect. Newport Aquarium serves as such a fun reception location, creating eye catching scenery at every turn. The beautiful images are provided by Jessica Strickland Photography. How awesome are the Playbill program and their Will Call themed seating chart for the reception? Both designed by the invitation and paper good expert, Five Dot Design. Decor was flawless and I can’t believe it because I am not much of a pink person, but I find myself obsessed with these pale pink bouquets. Let’s be honest, there isn’t one single aspect of this matrimonial inspiration that I don’t love. The bride sent along some adorable details about her and her groom that I just could not leave out…

Kat proposed to Juls on May 14, 2010, 5 years almost to the day that Julie’s grandmother passed.  It was with the exact ring that her grandmother wore everyday for over 60 years. After gaining Julie’s mothers approval with a weekend trip solo to Indy, the ring was his to propose to Juls the exact way her grandmother last saw it before she passed.

It was time to plan the wedding and they knew that Xavier University was the only place that they could have their wedding. August 13, 2011 was the date and they wanted more of a celebration/party and a fabulous Xavier reunion for their friends and family. They wanted to share their fun personalities, don’t take life too seriously while also displaying their passion for Xavier University and New York City. It all started off with a Save the Date in which they had a photo shoot with Xavier’s mascot the Blue Blob on the XU basketball court accompanied with a fun & creative poem who wouldn’t be excited for a wedding with a blue blob on the save the date?! Next step… the invites in which they took the more traditional, classic approach (more to appease Julie’s mom) but after explaining their vision to Kristen Becker at Five Dot Design they were able to come up with a solution that was not only traditional and classic, but also showed off their fun, outgoing personalities with a XU twist. Five Dot Design combined that with Julie’s passion for Theater and created a Playbill for “Julie & John’s X-Cellent Wedding” which contained the story of how they met, bios & headshots of the wedding party and details on the vendors.

When it was time to introduce the bridal party Julie and John surprised the bridesmaids and groomsmen by standing back stage introducing each person from “behind the scenes” adding in a bio on each! If you didn’t know who someone in the bridal party was before the event you did then!
